Collared Dove

 

Streptopelia decaocto

 

Collared doves are found largely around man, on farms, in gardens and parks, and most of the countryside except the highest regions.  They have a distinctive buffy-pink plumage and black neck collar.  It feeds on seeds and grains on the ground.

 

It is seen year round, lays 2 eggs with incubation being 14-18 days and fledging in 15-19 days.  It makes a distinctive “coo coo” sound.
